Stars back donkey fete
Acclaimed actors Martin Shaw and Jenny Seagrove are adding a little showbiz sparkle to a donkey sanctuary's summer fete next week.
The stars will enjoy cream teas, fun activities and meeting residents as patrons, at The Micheal Elliot Trust event between 11am and 4pm on Friday, September 3.
"We are under threat", said John Sterling, who manages the trust at Freshfields Donkey Village in Peak Forest with his wife Annie.
"We've lost 60 per cent of visitors and struggled with winter weather but still rescue many donkeys and work with 3,000 children with special needs.
"The main thing is to get people to come, then they think it is fantastic and come back."
