Surprise painting of Mayor

Eastwood councillor and artist Josie Forrest painted the town Mayor Brian Griffin and presented it to him at a recent lunch club.

Josie, who runs the Age Concern lunch club at the Colin Dyson Centre, did the piece during oil painting classes.

Brian said: “It was very nice of her. It came as a complete surprise – I thought I was just here for lunch!”

Josie attends classes at the Malcolm Parnham Gallery in Scargill Walk.

“I thought it would be a first to paint the Mayor,” she said.

“I have a lot of respect for him. He does a wonderful job.”
