‘Take action before someone is killed’

A concerned resident has told the Advertiser he fears there will have to be a fatality before action is taken over a danger road.

David Trueman who lives on Hassock Lane spoke after a car left the road and ended up in the front garden of a neighbour last week.

He said: “It’s only a matter of time before someone is killed and even then I’m not sure anything would be done about this.

“After the latest accident there was a group of neighbours all gathered around and talking about their worries and concerns.

“We’ve spoken to the police before and we spoke to them about our concerns again on the night.

“We all think there will be someone killed here sooner or later.”

Three police cars, a fire engine and an ambulance were called to the scene, near the turning for MFN, on June 12 at 11.30pm.

The Advertiser has reported on numerous accidents on the road branded a blackspot and ran stories over the concerns of residents several times over the past few years.

David added: “The car had been substantially damaged and I would be surprised if the house hit by the driver isn’t seriously damaged.

“A lot of motorists just don’t take notice of the 40mph speed limit or the adverse camber on the road.

“There is definitely a danger to life and property.

“This car went through three gardens, it’s a wonder no one was hurt.”
