Take part to keep service
NEAA 25-07-12 BE 1 Eastwood ambulance station.
Eastwood residents are being urged to take part in the consultation over the future of the ambulance service to keep paramedics in the town.
East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) started the consultation process this week following the news that ambulance stations across the region are set to close due to lack of use and costs to repair and maintain them.
The town is on the list to base an ambulance in the form of a community ambulance post, but the exact location hasn’t been decided yet.
Every ambulance station in Nottinghamshire will clsoe except two - one in the city and one in Sutton.
A spokesman for EMAS told the Advertiser: “Eastwoodis on the list to have a community ambulance post but details have not yet been finalised as we want to gather information through the consultation.
“We need people to let us know their thoughts and give us their feedback and suggestions on where a good location to site a post would be.”
As well as the community ambulance posts there will also be standby points and hubs.
EMAS say the changes will mean a better service.
Copies of the consultation document are available online at www.emas.nhs.uk or by calling 0800 917 9911.
Meetings are being arranged to take place across the region to outline the proposals in more detail.
Details are available on the EMAS website and will be in the Advertiser when announced.
