Teenager assaulted in Newthorpe

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man in an alleyway.

The girl was walking down an unlit path between Mill Road and Telford Drive, Newthorpe, Eastwood, at around 9.30pm Wednesday July 30, when the attack happened.

Half way down the alleyway the girl heard footsteps and a man approached from behind, pushed her to the floor, before sexually assaulting her.

The man is described as white, aged between 30 and 40-years-old, around 6ft tall, of slim build and was wearing a hooded top at the time.

Detective Constable Geoff Brown said: "This appears to be a chance attack on a girl who had been playing out with friends.

"I would urge anyone who was around the Mill Road and Dovecote Road area that night to try and remember if they saw this individual and, if they could help police in this investigation."

Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 0115 967 0999 and ask to speak to Kimberley CID. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
