The Three Peaks run challenge
A Kimberley taxi driver ran up and down the three peaks in six and a half hours to raise money for charity.
Over in just 24 hours, Paul Morley ran up and down Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in Wales and Snowden in England carrying a back pack for water, jumpers and a first aid kit.
“It’s a bit more of a challenge instead of just walking up!,” he said.
“I think you need a challenge in life. It was a bit different. Certainly something I’ve never done before!”
The 46-year-old cabbie, who works for the town’s A2B Taxi firm, raised £250 for the British Heart Foundation and said he was overwhelmed with the generosity of his customers.
“People would pay me and say ‘and there’s another £5 on top’. It was lovely because we’re in a recession after all.
“I would take people into town for £15 and they would give me £25 and say put it towards your challenge,” he said.
Paul decided he wanted to do something for the British Heart Foundation after his popular DJ friend from Ilkeston ‘Big Al’ died suddenly of heart failure a couple of years ago.
He completed the challenge with friend Michael Leek, who raised money for MacMillan Cancer Support, and with the help of driver, Collin Porter, who drove the pair around.
The fitness fanatic wants to thank everybody who sponsored him.
Paul has done various other charity challenges in the past, such as pulling a 13 tonne wagon with a team of several others.
