Traffic warning for remembrance

Police are urging motorists to plan their journeys and be patient during disruptions to traffic for the Remembrance Day parade on November 11.

At 10.25am Nottingham Road, between Mansfield Road and Chewton Street in Eastwood will be closed completely to traffic.

Traffic at the top of Mansfield Road and Church Street will be stopped for approximately five minutes at 10.35am to allow the parade to leave St Mary’s Church.

Once the parade reaches the Cenotaph at Plumtree Way there will be a Remembrance Day service lasting approximately 25 minutes.

The intention is to open Nottingham Road to traffic between Mansfield Road and Queens Road North during this time, but the road will remain closed between Queens Road North and Chewton Street.

The parade will continue to the War Memorial at Edward Road where there will be another Remembrance Day service lasting approximately 20 minutes.

The intention is to open Nottingham Road to traffic between Mansfield Road and Plumtree Way, but the road will remain closed between Plumtree Way and Chewton Street.

The second service is expected to end and the parade disbanded by midday, when Nottingham Road will re-open in full.

Diversions will be in place along Church Street and Chewton Street during the duration of the closures.
