Watnall WI marks its 85th

Watnall Women’s Institute has celebrated its 85th anniversary with a party at the Victoria Institute.

Dr Helen Rose, the group’s president, cut a cake assisted by vice president Joyce Widdowson, Greasley Parish Council chairman June Layton and the longest serving group members Ann Briggs and Joan Hind.

More than 40 people attended the celebration including representatives from the Nuthall, Leenside and Kimbeley institutes.

The Victoria Institute has been the group’s headquarters since 1928.
