Wesbite award for council

Broxtowe Borough Council has become the first council in Nottinghamshire to receive an award for making its website accessible to people with disabilities.

The council was awarded the Shaw Trust Plus Accessibility award for its website this week.

Council members have worked with the national charity over the past three months to complete the rigorous accreditation process before being given the award.

Over 60 hours of rigorous testing was carried out on the website.

Cllr Pat Lally said: “It’s important to ensure the website is as accessible and as user-friendly as possible.

“Not only is it a legal requirement to provide an accessible website but we passionately believe that it’s important to ensure people with disabilities have equal access to our online services.”
