A programme which aims to improve the lives of young people will be starting in Eastwood at the beginning of next month.

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme will be based at Eastwood Fire Station for 12 weeks from February 2 and is open to all unemployed 16-25 year olds.

Throughout the course the young people will spend a week away trying new skills and learning to work as a team, they will decide on a project and a challenge to work on which will help the community and they will go on work placements to explore a field of work they may be interested in.

Former team member Damion Filbee said the programme really helped him.

He added: “Thanks to Gina I have an apprenticeship at a nursery and thanks to the rest of the team on the residential trip I am one step closer to conquering my fear of heights.”

The young people on the team will gain qualifications and certificates during the week and plenty of experiences which will help them start their career.
