Eastwood to celebrate World Book Night

A World Book Night celebration is taking place at Dunn-Lite, 28-30 Nottingham Road, Eastwood, tonight from 6pm till 8pm.

World Book Night (WBN) is a celebration of reading and books which sees tens of thousands of passionate volunteers given specially chosen and printed WBN books in their communities to share their love of reading.

April 23 is a symbolic date for world literature as it is both the birth and death day of Shakespeare.

Eastwood Comprehensive School staff and the Eastwood Booktown Development Group members were lucky enough to be selected as World Book Night givers. ‘Givers’ had to choose their favourite book from a list of 20 and will pick up 20 copies of that book from their local library to pass on to others who seldom read on World Book Night.

We now have hundreds of books to pass on and Dunn–Lite have very kindly offered to open up their doors to celebrate.

There will be live entertainment, book givers letting people know about their favourite books and Dunn-Lite’s delicious refreshments will be on sale.

We warmly invite the community to come along, enjoy the evening and maybe go away with a book they will love.

This event is a wonderful collaboration between the local school, a local business (Dunn-Lite) and a community group (Eastwood Booktown Development Group) so please show your support.
