A RECENT report from the Tax Payers’ Alliance revealed Nottinghamshire County Council spent almost £17,000 on flights in the last two years.

The report found that 48 councils across the Midlands spent a combined total of £275,000 on flights during the period.

Council leader Kay Cutts said she had reintroduced an administration committee to consider travel and accommodation costs in public, including flights abroad.

“We only allow travel that is necessary and we so far have spent £2,857.40 on flight costs since April compared to £4,384.90 during the same period in 2009,” she said.
