UNDER 16s and over 60s will be able to swim for free in Broxtowe throughout August.
Councillors at a Broxtowe Borough Council cabinet meeting this week unanimously supported the move.
Swimmers at all Broxtowe pools will be able to take the plunge for free as long as they have a leisure card.
Cabinet portfolio member and Kimberley councillor, Richard Robinson, said: “This really is a very good practical initiative and I am sure this will be very much welcomed by local residents.
“There’s some excellent facilities for swimming in Bramcote and of course more locally at Kimberley Leisure Centre, and after visiting both centres last week, I’ve seen first hand just how popular and well used the centres are.”
Free swimming was introduced in 2009 but the scheme was scrapped due to the central Government cuts.
