A Giltbrook resident who held a garden party for Marie Curie raised £500 and had people turn up from as far away as Mansfield.
Carol Marks-Smith said 111 people turned up to the event last weekend and she met local neighbours for the first time, despite living at her house for nearly 30 years.
Carol said: “This event was to help raise the profile of charity that spends their funding locally, whilst aiming to bring the whole community together. I met lots of neighbours who live just a street or two away that I have never met before and I’ve lived in Giltbrook since 1986! The feedback from everyone was really positive.”
