ASHFIELD MP Gloria De Piero chats to constituents at Desmond Court in Underwood as part of her ongoing coffee morning-style surgeries with local people.

Ms De Piero is pictured chatting with, from left, Rev Ian McLeod, Flora McLeod and parish councillor Andy Fell.

Around 40 people attended the event off Westbourne Road with hot topics including anti-social behaviour, benefit rules and pot holes.

Speaking after the event, Gloria said: “I met some lovely people today. The only way I can represent people is by being in constant touch with them. I am all too aware that too many people only see politicians at election time – I want to change that.”

Some of them just wanted to say hello and have a cuppa while others had particular matters they wanted to raise with me.”

As usual, there were a wide variety of topics that people wanted to talk to me about. One issue that came up a few times was the problem of anti-social behaviour. I’d like to commend PCSO Simon Zacharia who will be working with me and the community to stamp out disorder on our streets.”
