Introduced by the Mayor of Broxtowe, Cllr Margaret Handley, the four weeks of the Eastwood Arts Festival were brought to a close on Saturday evening, with a concert given by the Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir, along with the Humberston singers from Lincolnshire, at Eastwood St Mary’s Church.
A very appreciative audience was treated to an evening of superb choral singing with the typical male voice choir renditions of Gwahoddiad and Stout Hearted Men from the Eastwood choir contrasting beautifully with the lighthearted versions of Paddy McGinty’s Goat and There Is Nothing Like A Dame from the Humberston Singers.
The evening’s singing culminated with the audience participating enthusiastically with both choirs with the songs I Vow To Thee My Country and the ever-popular Jerusalem.
This was an evening enjoyed by everyone and a fantastic end to a month of enjoyment.
