THE Mayor of Broxtowe raised a flag at Colliers Wood in Moorgreen to officially mark its Green Flag Status.

The woodland in Engine Lane was given green flag status earlier this year and the flag on the site will now let visitors know that it is well-maintained, well-managed and has excellent facilities.

Mayor of Broxtowe Jacky Williams raised the flag last Wednesday in a special ceremony attended by the Friends of Colliers Wood – a group that look after and maintain the area.

The status award scheme is important in improving the standards of parks and green spaces. Cllr Stan Heptinstall said Colliers Wood was ‘pleasant and enjoyable for the whole community’.
