‘Hands off our cheques’

Nottinghamshire County Council’s Labour group has said it plans to support a motion to lobby the Prime Minister to reverse his plans to phase out the use of cheques by 2018

Group leader Cllr Alan Rhodes will call on the Tory-run authority’s chief executive at a meeting on Thursday to lobby David Cameron.

Cllr Rhodes said: “At a time when many elderly people and local businesses are facing the brunt of coalition cutbacks, taking away their ability and choice to pay bills by cheque will be just another poke in the eye.”
