Following on from the photo we featured in last week’s Advertiser, this is another picture of workers at Lynncroft Pottery in Eastwood.
The pottery was run by the Mellors family back in the early 1900s.
Workers used to make little ink pots and salt-glazed stoneware, such as shiny browm bottles.
The company got its clay from the canyon in Walker Street.
There’s an old clay quarry between The Breach and Walker Street. It is still there today, but overgrown with trees.
Lynncroft Pottery employed about 50 people.
An avenue of houses now stand where Lynncroft Pottery once was.
