A high-flying class of youngsters from an Eastwood school have reached the semi-finals stage of a national competition — and now need your backing to take top prize.
The Owl class at Brookhill Leys Primary School entered the 2014 EON commercial competition with their advert promoting energy-saving and they now have until 5pm on Friday July 11 to get as many views and likes of their video as possible.
The winners will get their advert professionally produced by UTV Media and will win £500 and an Apple iPad for their school.
Teacher Jessica Stole had her pupils invent jingles in class and then used the best ones for the video.
She said: “It makes me smile every time I watch it.”
“So far we’ve had almost 1,000 views on YouTube, and I believe the class can win the competition.”
Seven-year-old pupil Tegan Fuller, who stars in the video, said that she had learned about energy saving at school in science class.
She said: “We learned about how if you turn the lights off in your house then you can save electricity.
“If we won I would be really excited and I would jump around.”
Kayleigh Breen, seven, who was also in the advert said that she showed her mum when she got home after school.
“Mum thought it was brilliant,” she added.
Eastwood MP Gloria De Piero urged the people of Eastwood to watch the video online and vote for Brookhill Leys.
She said: “They are relying on us so we can’t let them down.
“It will only take a couple of minutes but I know it will mean the world to the kids, their teachers and their parents if they manage to pip the other school to victory.”
