Hit and run pleas entered
Three men have pleaded guilty to charges connected to a hit and run that left an Ilkeston teenager fighting for his life.
Haydn Thomson, 19, was left badly injured and was in critical condition in the Queen’s Medical Centre for weeks after being hit by a car on Stanton Road, Ilkeston, in May.
Matthew Reynolds, 29, Scott Hipkiss, 18, and James Harrison, 22, appeared at Derby Crown Court on Monday to enter pleas to charges related to the incident.
Reynolds pleaded guilty to failing to stop at the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident, driving with no insurance and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Hipkiss and Harrison both entered guilty pleas when charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
A judge ordered that pre-sentence reports are prepared before the men return to court to be sentenced on September 14.
Following the hit and run friends and family rallied round to raise cash for the wards where Haydn was treated.
A charity football match took place on Sunday and a pamper evening is planned for August 31 at the Stute.
