More than 1,100 players from 122 teams will take part in an annual 6-a-side football tournament when it returns to Eastwood on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July.

The Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Stan Heptinstall will also attend the event on Saturday 5th July at 4.00pm to present the trophies for the afternoon round of matches.

The tournament, organised in partnership between Priory Celtic Football Club and Broxtowe Borough Council, will take place in Hall Park, Eastwood and will be the largest in Nottinghamshire this season.

John Harris, tournament director, said: “I have been organising this tournament for ten years and I have been overwhelmed by the number of applications this season. We have even had to extend the capacity twice to accommodate the teams.

“It’s fantastic to see so many young people playing sports and the tournament is a great opportunity for the players and their families to meeting others who share their passion for the beautiful game.”
