A teenager baked and sold cakes at school to raise money for a care home in Nuthall.

Kate Maslanka , a pupil from Nottingham Girls Academy, raised £33 for Acer Court Care Home where she works as a volunteer part time.

The 16-year-old recently did two weeks work experience and still volunteers at the home at weekends.

Kate, who handed the cheque over to resident Avis Wood said: “After my time at Acer Court and seeing what they do there, I wanted to give them the money for the residents funds which gets spent on trips out for them and helps with the spending money.”
