CHILDREN at Brinsley Primary school donned their wellies and planted some trees to mark the Queen’s Jubilee. Teachers at the school, were sent five trees by the Woodland Trust and the foundation one class went out to plant them on Wednesday of this week.
Unit manager Emily Howard said the teachers decided to tie the tree planting in with ‘welly Wednesday’ which is where the kids do something outdoors in their wellies each week.
“They go out and do something nature related,” Emily said.
“They collect leaves and do anything to get out and explore the environment and find things to do with autumn and winter.
“So we thought we could combine the tree planting with welly Wednesday!”
Teachers at the school were keen to plant new trees after dead ones were dug up as part of the playground makeover.
