Broxtowe Borough Council is starting another round of planting trees and kicked things off in Eastwood last week.
The council wants to plant 100,000 trees over a five year period and aims to reach the half way point this season.
Pupils from Brookhill Leys Primary School in Eastwood were the first to get the digging started at Jubilee Park in Church Street last week where they planted trees along with bluebells and snowdrops.
Matt McCallion, teacher at Brookhill Leys Primary, said: “Tree planting is an excellent way for the children to contribute to the local environment. They really enjoyed it.”
