The Kimberley Christmas lights will be switched on next Friday, November 18.
Kimberley town councillors have received a donation of £300 from Wilkinsons to help pay for the event – the biggest donation the council has ever received for the switch on.
Starting at 6.15pm at Holy Trinity Church there will be a fancy dress competition. Lights will then be turned on in Toll Bar Square at 7pm and there will be fireworks on the cricket ground.
Santa will be about the town on his sledge before heading to the parish hall in Newdigate Street where the will be a grotto for the kids.
There will also be various stalls and refreshments in Victoria Street car park.
Kimberley town council funds the majority of the Christmas light switch on event itself.
Cllr Shane Easom recently called for the town to be given more money Broxtowe Borough Council to help towards it, saying Kimberley gets a raw deal compared to Eastwood and Beeston.
