Nathan Jarvis denied two counts of assault, having previously admitted assaulting a woman and two other officers, but was convicted on Thursday, by magistrates in Mansfield.

Police were called to an address on Carter Lane, Mansfield, on February 11, where Jarvis assaulted two women, said Neill Fawcett, prosecuting.

As he was led to the police car, Jarvis bit one officer on the knuckle, and spat in the face of another as he was taken to a van.

His spittle hit two other officers on their sleeves.

Jarvis, 30, formerly of Sherwood Street, was on remand after breaching a four month suspended sentence for damage, imposed last year.

Magistrates viewed his attack on one woman as “so serious”, because it was a prolonged attack which took place in the victim’s home while her children were present.

Jarvis had a previous record of domestic violence, the court heard.

A restraining order banning him from contacting either woman was made until further notice.

He was jailed for a total of 25 weeks, and ordered to pay £115 compensation.
