LETTER: it’s a balancing act over fire-ravaged chapel

Eastwood chapel fire

I have taken part in the consultation over what should happen to the Eastwood chapel, which was destroyed in an arson attack.

When thinking with my head, it would make financial sense to demolish the structure, as any rebuilding or other project would no doubt be very costly.

However, it is not always easy only to make decisions with your head.

If thinking with your heart, the chapel must be rebuilt.

We are talking about a landmark that survived both World Wars and is part of the very fabric of Eastwood.

If funding can be secured, then my vote goes for rebuilding and reviving some of the traditional features.
