Calling all local snappers! This week we are launching a brilliant new photographic competition with a top-notch digital camera, worth hundreds of pounds, as the top prize.
Our first-ever Life Thru The Lens is sponsored by the popular Specsavers store on Bath Street, Ilkeston.
Both the Advertiser and Specsavers have joined forces to bring you this wonderful opportunity, now it is down to you, our readers, to get out and about with your cameras and smartphones and start capturing wonderful images.
The subject you choose is up to you, it could be an image that captures Ilkeston’s industrial past, a shot of a glorious green space, local wildlife or an eyecatching shot of a sporting occasion.
The only real limit is your ambition and creative flair.
The next step is to email or post your entry to us with specific details (SEE RIGHT).
The competition will run for several weeks to allow you to take advantage of the changing seasons to add atmosphere to your shots.
And we will showcase some of your entries each week in the paper and online.
Once the competition closes, a group of finalists will be selected before a panel of judges select the overall winner.
There will then be a presentation night at the Specsavers store where the finalists’ images will also be exhibited.
As mentioned, Specsavers Ilkeston is providing a top prize of the latest digital camera.
Krishna Parmar, director at Ilkeston Specsavers, said: “We’re really pleased to be sponsoring Life Thru the Lens .
“We can’t wait to see your entries.”
Don’t fret if you do not own a top of the range camera. Smartphones provide the ideal chance to capture an impromptu image, such as the sunrise blazing through the trees.
Editor Martin Hutton said: “This is a great competition and, thanks to Specsavers, is sure to attract lots of interest. Go on, give it a go.”
