A community award is to be launched in the name of a highly regarded Eastwood councillor who recently died.
Brian Fretwell suggested an award in Hazel Braithwaite’s name at an Eastwood Town Council meeting on Monday night.
He said: “I think an achievement for the town in her name would be great.
“She was an amazing lady and worked for the town for 50 plus years.”
Councillors agreed it was a great idea and said they would discuss it at the next meeting.
Described as a ‘legendary’ councillor, Hazel was Eastwood Mayor 18 times and was honoured with Alderman of Broxtowe. She died last month aged 90.
