The rising stars of a Nuthall-based dancing school have showcased their talents at a celebration of achievements and awards ceremony. More than 40 members of the Sharon Boyden School of Dance showed their individual style and ability to more than 60 supportive adults who attended the social gathering, which was appropriately named ‘A Night With Your Stars’.
Cups, trophies, and certificates were the rewards on offer and taking pride of place were Mrs Boyden’s high-achieving dancers who were Mia Hardy, Sian Catton, Hannah Capewell and Megan Rees, among others.
Also making their marks were Nancy Barker and Radina Gibb whose progress earned them the dance school’s accolade of ‘most improved and personal best achievers’ award.
There was praise too for four of the dance school’s youngest members Charlotte Purdy, Chloe-Hague-Naylor, Darcy Beckham, and Mia Wagtaff who were presented with the ‘progressive rainbow’ award.
“It has been a year of progress and success and I am proud of the efforts put in by my dancers who have tried really hard and have been a credit to their parents,” said Mrs Boyden.
There was praise too from Mrs Boyden for her four dance teachers Jo Jeynes, Gemma Parr, Sue Hague-Naylor, and Hannah Smart.
“Their contributions have been immense during a very busy year.
“Their time patience and expertise is greatly appreciated,” she said.
The celebratory event ended on a high note with the drawing of a raffle and 20 prizes up for grabs.
Money raised will be going to support the work of The Emmanuel House homeless charity and the Rainbows Children’s Hospice.
The awards event took place at the John Godber Centre in Hucknall.
Three dancers were presented with cups, trophies and certificates during an achievement ceremony at the end of February.
Hannah, Sian and Juli-Anna were praised for their efforts and progress they had made during the past year.
