A hairdresser’s in Giltbrook is celebrating after being crowned the Eastwood & Kimberley Advertiser’s first-ever Salon of the Year.
Bowers Hairdressing on Smithurst Road has been judged to be a cut above in our competition, which saw hundreds of readers and customers cast their votes.
The salon beat off competition from more than a dozen rivals after the businesses were whittled down to a shortlist of finalists.
The Advertiser popped along to the salon this week to present the award.
The owner of the salon, Scott Bowers, said he was delighted to hear that his business had won, especially as it had only been open for two years.
He added: “It is really good as we have not been open that long.
“It is nice to know so many people have voted for us too, it is good to have the recognition.”
In the last year, the salon, which employs a total of six staff, has expanded to offer beauty treatments too, including everything from nails to spray tans.
Their clients include celebrities such as auctioneer James Lewis and England and Nottinghamshire cricket star Stuart Broad.
Award-winning hairdresser Ben Kristian-Wardle, who works at Bowers, also recently won gold in the prestigious Wella Trend Vision competition.
Advertiser editor Martin Hutton said: “Congratulations to Bowers but also congratulations to all the salons who were nominated by faithful clients and those who made the list of finalists
