Meryl Collins celebrates her retirement from Sainsburys, Kimberley after working for the company for 30 years.

A devoted member of staff who was on the shop floor when Sainsbury’s in Kimberley opened has retired after 30 years on the team.

Meryl Collins, of Nuthall, joined the staff on the grocery section when the store on Greens Lane opened in 1984 before moving to work on the the checkouts for many years.

A party was held to mark her retirement.

She said: “I really enjoyed the party and it was a nice surprise to see past and present work colleagues as in the last 30 years I have made a lot of friends.”

Meryl was presented with a bouquet of flowers from Sainsbury’s and a gift voucher from colleagues.

She added that she was sad to be leaving but promised she would see everyone when she did her shopping.
