Broxtowe Borough Council has advised the Government’s national emergency committee that it can provide 100 sandbags towards the flooding crisis.
The leader of the council Milan Radulovic said: “This is a major emergency and our sympathies go out to all those who have been affected. We are prepared to do our bit to help if we can. Sandbags provide a relatively cheap way to manage flooding. We are pleased to be able to help, even if it’s only in a small way.”
The crisis has seen winds of over 100 miles per hour and one of the wettest winters on record. Forecasters predict there is more to come.
