And now Nottinghamshire County Council has more social workers in place to train and support those foster carers who look after children who show signs of challenging behaviour which affects their development and ability to form attachments due to abuse and neglect they suffered during their early life.

Councillor Kate Foale, who leads on children’s social care, said: “Seven years ago we began training and support for foster carers in innovative techniques they can use to help manage the challenging behaviour of the children they care for.

“This is clearly paying off.”
