Nottinghamshire County Council has welcomed news it will receive more than £2.7m to repair potholes that pepper local roads.

The fund was unveiled during a visit to Kimberley by Prime Minister David Cameron last month.

It comes at a time when the council is having to make £154m of savings as a result of government spending cuts,

The funding is part of the £168m dedicated Pothole Repair Fund which was announced in the Budget earlier this year and adds to the £1.5m which Nottinghamshire received earlier this year.

Repair works have to be completed by the end of March 2015 and updates must be published.
