There was no need to spell out the success of year six leavers at schools in Nuthall, for they were presented with Usborne Illustrated English dictionaries by members of the Rotary movement as a special gift.
At assemblies held at Horsendale, Mornington and Hempshill Hall primary schools, which come under the jurisdiction of Nuthall Parish Council, Rotarians Bill Smith, a past president, and newest member Geof Bosworth handed over the dictionaries (pictured above).
Funding provided by the Rotary Club of Bulwell and Basford has paid for the dictionaries.
Helen Ridge, who lives in Nuthall and is head teacher at Hempshill, praised the Rotary for its continuing support of local pupils.
“This is the fourth year running that the Rotary organisation has chosen to support local schools and I personally am very grateful,” she said.
Bill Smith, whose son was educated at Hempshill, said: “The schools in Nuthall are among the best in the county and it is always a pleasure to visit the schools and to present the Usborne dictionaries which really will be an asset to any child.”
