Armed Forces Day flag

This specially commissioned flag was raised by Deputy Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Susan Bagshaw, of Eastwood, to commemorate Armed Forces Day on Saturday.

Representatives from 170 Engineer Group Royal Engineers gathered to mark the annual celebration of British servicemen and women.
Lieutenant Colonel Gavin Hatcher, the Commanding Officer of 62 Works Group and WO1 Stephen Stewart joined Cllr Bagshaw along with members of the Royal British Legion, Forces in the Community, Freemen, Aldermen, past mayors, councillors and members of the public in Beeston Square to recognise the contributions of all those who serve or have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

Local authorities and more than 3,000 members of public, businesses and schools throughout the country raised their own Armed Forces Day flags to honour British armed forces of past, present and future,
