A young girl from Eastwood stuck to her word as she had her waist-length hair cut to shoulder length in aid of children’s charities.
Phoebe Bradley, 11, of Springbank Primary School had her locks chopped off at the Style 2000 salon in Eastwood last Friday (June 20) to rais e money for the charity When You Wish Upon A Star.
The youngster is also supporting the charity Little Princess Trust, which makes real hair wigs for children undergoing treatment for cancer, by donating the hair she has had cut off.
Phoebe, who had her locks chopped by Karen Smith at the salon, has raised £500 for the charities so far.
She said that she is really pleased that she has managed to raise so much money for the charities with the hair cut that lasted 30 minutes.
She added: “Karen did a really good job and my hair still looks really beautiful.
“I thought I would be nervous before it was cut but I wasn’t at all, I’m just really pleased that I managed to raise so much money for a really good cause.”
Eastwood MP Gloria De Piero has praised the fundraising efforts of Phoebe. She said that for someone so young Phoebe is an inspiration.
She added: “It was a really brave thing to do but she was really determined to raise as much money for charity as possible and to also donate her hair to children who have lost theirs through cancer treatment.”
