An 11-year-old girl wrote and performed a play to raise money for a dog rescue centre.
Keira Pilcher got a group of friends together and performed the play for family and friends, raising more than £70 for Babbington Rescue in Awsworth.
Her grandmother, Carole Pilcher, said: “It was lovely to see young kids making the effort to do something like that.
“Keira has got her own dog that she takes to shows at the centre and she just loved the idea of raising some money for them, which I think is great at her age.
“She often goes down to the centre and walks the dogs for them.”
After the play the group sang a song about the rescue centre, also written by Keira, and held a raffle to boost their funds.
Mrs Pilcher said it made a really enjoyable night.
“It was such a lovely night. They were singing and dancing and she always puts some good jokes in her plays.
“We had cakes, coffee and mulled wine. It was just wonderful.”
Mr Pilcher said her talented granddaughter also wrote and performed a play to raise money for the British Heart Foundation when she was nine.
The budding playwright, who lives in Cossall, also has a passion for music and playing the guitar.
