Chat and Craft group, Eastwood

Chat and Craft group, Eastwood

Setting the world to rights while knitting blankets, cushions and soft toys for charity, the Eastwood Crafts and Chat group are big in heart.

Run by Dorothy Wright, a former office manager and Girl Guide leader who lives in Newthorpe Common, the happy social group has several talented ladies in its ranks who make knitted goods and things such as blankets, cushions, cards, and soft toys for good causes, is to be admired.

Among the group’s ‘retired’ members are former schoolteachers, receptionists ,business managers , dinner ladies and shop assistants, these include the likes of Anne Hawkins, Jill Hicking , Maureen Palethorpe, Sylvia Kirk, Liz Roworth, and Chris Heywood who are pictured with Dorothy Wright (seated front centre).

“ We would welcome newcomers and anyone who has a hidden talent to share”, said Dorothy.

“ At our meetings those present make items that we sell on at church and charity events. But more often than not we are putting the world to rights with interesting conservation and chat,in a warm friendly environment.”

The Crafts and Chat Group meet on the third Monday of each month (2pm to 4pm) in “the lounge” at St.Mary’s Church (near to Plumptre Hall)
