The latest education league tables have been released by the Government, showing how schools are performing in the area.
At Eastwood Comprehensive School 49 per cent of pupils gained five or more A* to C-grades at GCSE or equivalent, including English and maths, in last summer’s exams.
While 59 per cent of students gained five or more A*-C grades, including English and maths, at The Kimberley School.
Again in Eastwood it was 49 per cent of pupils who got the top grades in English and maths alone, and in Kimberley this stood at 60 per cent.
The ‘English Baccalaureate’ recognises where pupils have secured a C grade or better across a core of academic subjects – English, mathematics, history or geography, the sciences and a language.
This figure stood at 17 per cent in Kimberley, and just nine per cent in Eastwood.
The tables do however show that performance has improved at Eastwood Comprehensive School when compared to the previous two years. Three years ago, figures were very similar, the table shows.
Over in Selston, 58 per cent of students got five or more high grades including English and maths and 54 per cent got the top grades at Aldercar Community Language College, where 27 per cent of pupils managed to achieve the English Baccalaureate.
The results put Eastwood Comprehensive School 44th out of 81 secondary schools in the county, and Kimberley 28th.
Nationally 59.2 per cent of pupils got five A* to C grades including English and maths. This dipped slightly from 59.4 per cent from last year.
A-level league tables were also published this week and for the first time the data has been divided to show A-level and vocational qualification performance in schools in an attempt to make it easier for parents to spot what schools and colleges specialise in.
Eastwood Comprehensive School had an average point score of 715.6 in their A-levels, while The Kimberley School had an average point score of 709.1.
The lowest point score in Nottinghamshire was Queen Elizabeth’s Academy in Mansfield with an average point score of 527.2, and the highest was the Becket School in West Bridgford with an average score of 1003.7.
