I wonder whether readers might be interested in a story of two old books in my possession?
They surfaced in a car boot sale in Eastwood in 1970. There should be three of them, but the first one remains missing.
They are hand written with many pictures and tell the story that the author made in 1914 from Birkenhead to Calcutta.
Within the books are four pictures of the author, and his initials are embossed on the covers. I was given them in 2010, and in 2012 I discovered who the author was!
His journey began on July 26 1914 and the return journey was hampered by the outbreak of the war.
Could the first book be on a dusty shelf somewhere in Eastwood?
