LETTER: picture captured Pye Bridge in the snow

Selston

Selston

Re the picture which featured in Memory Lane section in the Eastwood Advertiser on June 20 entitled ‘Winter snow turns road into ice rink’.

This picture was in fact taken at Pye Bridge and not Selston. It is on Jubilee Hill.

There is a house on the right-hand side that is the station master’s house for Pye Bridge Station and goods yard. That’s not there now.

As you look on the bend, it shows you part of the railway bridge. That’s still there – the Pinxton to Nottingham line.

I lived in Pye Bridge for 20 years near where it was taken. It was a real problem on that road when it snowed.
