Eastwood’s award-winning DH Lawrence Heritage Centre is celebrating a cash windfall of £9,900 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) as part of a special ‘Digital Giving’ project.
As part of the project, D.H Lawrence Heritage, pictured, will launch a digital giving webpage to encourage donations from local and national businesses to help the site in organising and delivering a variety of community events focusing on local history and heritage.
The digital giving portal, being developed with the help of web and digital consultancy Think Amigo, will be compatible with mobile devices as well as desktop computers and donations will help fund a programme of innovative events.
Broxtowe Borough Council cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, Cllr Ian Tyler said: “This is a fantastic project that will help ensure that the Heritage Centre and Birthplace Museum can diversify its income to continue to offer quality community events with real benefit for the local area.
“The DH Lawrence Heritage team work extremely hard and we are delighted the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded them this funding.”
Using money raised through the National Lottery, the H LF aims to make a lasting difference for heritage, people and communities across the UK and help build a resilient heritage economy.
From museums, parks and historic places to archaeology, natural environment and cultural traditions, HLF invest in every part of the UK’s diverse heritage. HLF has supported more than 36,000 projects with more than £5.9bn across the UK.
