The original foundry was founded by Samuel Johnson off Bridge Street, New Eastwood near the Nottingham Canal.
Items manufactured at the foundry were manhole covers, oven and boiler sets, bottom grates and various other small castings.
Over the years three to five people were employed at the foundry, mainly the Johnson family, who often joined the business after gaining experience by working for other ironfounders.
David Johnson, born in Chewton Street in 1963, started work at his father’s factory after school. He eventually became a partner in the business alongside other family members.
