MEMORY LANE: Jakey Booth in 1935

John ‘Jakey’ Booth ran a shop in Eastwood that sold everything from a bucket to a wine glass.

He was said to be ‘quite a character’, and as well as running his general store, he was also a postman.

Postcards were very popular years ago, and of course the messages on them could be read very easily, which Jakey was renowned for doing.
