A man who recently moved to Eastwood to live with his wife-to-be was one of two friends killed in a horror crash.
Adam Burton and Craig Dowhan were in a silver Rover 218 with another man when it left the road in Longdale Lane in Ravenshead last Sunday.
The vehicle collided with a telegraph pole at 10pm before catching fire.
A resident tried in vain to save the men and put out the flames but they died at the scene.
The third man was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre with minor injuries and has since been discharged.
Both victims were from Hucknall but Adam had moved to Eastwood to be with fiancee, Kirsty Wright, who said the pair were planning to marry in August this year after being together for three years.
She paid tribute to the guy who was a ‘brilliant dad’ to her six year-old daughter Alisha.
“Adam was a great guy who was always laughing and the most loving person,” said Kirsty. “He was a brilliant dad to Alisha and was always taking her to the park and liked to take and pick her up from school.
“He was really close to his mum and his two brothers and younger sister and had loads of friends who will all miss him too.”
A tree at the crash site has been covered in cards, flowers and messages.
Kirsty has left photographs of her and Adam together, as well as keepsakes and mementoes.
“He didn’t like school but he loved his cars and motorbike and would spend hours tinkering with them,” added Kirsty.
She described Adam as the love of her life in a message left at the scene and wrote ‘never forgotten-always be missed’.
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in relation to the crash and have been bailed pending furtherenquiries. The men are aged 20, 21, and 28 and are not believed to have been in the vehicle that crashed.
