The voice of the X-Factor has introduced the new stars of the trentbarton bus fleet at a special launch this week.
With the help of talent show announcer Peter Dickson, the first of 16 new buses destined for the firm’s popular rainbow one and rapid one routes into Nottingham was unveiled.
Mr Dickson was joined by local business leaders, customers and staff invited to Nottingham Castle for a close-up look at the new vehicles that represent a £2 million plus investment by trentbarton.
Over the next few weeks, the British-built Optare Versa vehicles will enter service on routes that connect Eastwood and Kimberley with Nottingham city centre.
The new buses feature free 4G Wi-Fi, built-in USB power sockets, next stop announcement system, double glazing, and cosy, comfy seats with leather headrests.
Using the announcement system and his iconic X-Factor voice, Dickson told passengers on board the first of the new buses how much of a fan of the bus system he is.
He added: “I’m delighted that my voice has featured on a bus for the first time and proud to be helping a business with such a rich 100-year plus history.
“However I can help wondering what were they running in 1913? Talking donkeys?”
