A swing singer from Kimberley who has raised thousands for charity died suddenly yesterday morning, March 24.
Ian Campbell, also known as Jock or his stage name Frankie Martin, has been described as a ‘true legend’ by devastated friends and family.
Hannah Stott Mckie said on facebook: “Kimberley’s hero and a legend. A truley sad day.”
The Golden Guinea pub in Kimberley often had Frankie perform at community events.
A member of staff posted the comment: “It was a privilege to have known you from all at the Golden Guinea, for the great person you are and everything you stood for, especially the great work you done for Help for Heroes. You will be sadly missed.”
Back in 2010, Ian lived out of a van for a year while he performed 365 gigs in as many days in a UK-wide charity pub tour. He raised £140,000 for Help for Heroes.
